English Summary
Missing the Target
Tracy has one story related to Deaf people’s bloopers and how effective lipreading can be. Tracy had to return a Christmas gift from her husband’s parents to Target. She didn’t have a receipt so she expected to get in-store credit. The person at customer service told her it was on clearance so she would only be able to give her that price in exchange. Tracy believed that instead of $7.99, it was on clearance for $7.19. She realized the limits of her lipreading skills when the clerk handed her 79 cents.
These summaries are offered for support in comprehension. They are written in third person to provide the information contained in the text, rather than a model interpretation. Use them only as a stepping stone for your own analysis and interpretation.
